Intrawest Names New President for Canadian Mountain Holidays

December 3, 2012 – Morgan Samuels, a leading human capital consulting firm, has announced that Joseph B. Flannery will be the new President of Canadian Mountain Holidays, a resort company owned by the Colorado-based Intrawest.  Morgan Samuels provides innovative and strategic services focused on identifying, attracting, and retaining top executive talent.  In this role, Mr. Flannery was brought in to take the business to the next level of growth and profitability.

Intrawest is an industry leader in the development and management of four-season mountain resorts.  Founded in 1976, Intrawest began as a residential and urban real estate firm.  The Denver company, now a privately-held and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fortress Investment Group, later combined its real estate and mountain operations expertise to form a unique village-centered offering.  Canadian Mountain Holidays is a premier adventure travel company with more than 45 years of experience operating in the mountains of eastern British Columbia.  CMH is the largest heli-skiing company in the world with more than 7,000 guests that come from afar to indulge in the experience per year.  During the warmer months, CMH offers heli-hiking and mountaineering vacations.  CMH is based in Banff, Alberta and operates in the Purcell, Selkirk, Monashee and Cariboo mountains from eight backcountry lodges and three town-based hotels.  The operating area encompasses approximately 15,000 square kilometers of terrain, granted under Licenses of Occupation from the British Columbia government.

Mr. Flannery had most recently been the Vice President of Global Marketing at Mountain Hardware/Montrail in Richmond, CA.  Previously, he was a Managing Partner at The Meriwether Group in San Francisco, and before that the Vice President of Global Marketing for The North Face in San Leandro, CA.  He has also worked for Adidas and Nike.  Mr. Flannery earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Miami University in Oxford, OH.  He has also been awarded the U.S. Congressional Bronze Medal for his efforts in community service, civic leadership, and philanthropy.  “It has been a pleasure partnering with Fortress Investments and Intrawest on this critical placement and we are confident that Joe will be an outstanding leader in driving strategic growth for Canadian Mountain Holidays”, said Bert Hensley, Morgan Samuels Chairman and CEO, who led this search on behalf of Intrawest, along with Lynn Wu, Principal.
