Elizabeth BelowDirector of Systems & Knowledge Management
“Knowledge is power. France is bacon.”
At first glance, you might think Elizabeth Below is too cool to be a librarian—after all, she’s a sneakerhead, often spotted with rainbow-inspired hair, wearing collectible kicks like OG Air Jordan 3s or Yeezys. But don’t be fooled, she’s an avid reader and information curator with a natural instinct for spotting the white-hot insight hiding in new knowledge.
Elizabeth is at her best when she’s working to connect people with one another or with the information they need. At Morgan Samuels, she partners with our Executive Team to shape the way we learn, communicate, and share information with clients, candidates, and within the firm—especially important as we are a completely remote team. Elizabeth also partners with our CIO in technology-focused strategies to maximize firm collaboration and effectively leverage the institutional knowledge that sets Morgan Samuels apart.
A Morgan Samuels alumna returned, Elizabeth stepped away from her role as a Senior Research Consultant, and later Manager, to broaden her skillsets and experience by supporting executive recruiting across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp brands. There, she worked alongside Facebook senior leadership to identify and recruit the most sought-after talent to help the company tackle things like election integrity, content discovery, data privacy, user trust & safety, and ad targeting, just to name a few—before coming home to our team in 2019.
A well-seasoned strategist, Elizabeth’s career is built on her passion for solving difficult problems with innovative and unconventional approaches. From Allstate—where she was a founding member of the Talent Acquisition’s Strategic Services team—to Spencer Stuart, where she supported the firm’s global Legal and Business Services practices and led their Competitive Intelligence knowledge function, Elizabeth’s experience has given her the unique ability to increase market intelligence and cultivate meaningful client relationships.
With a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) and KM certificate from Dominican University and a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing from Purdue University, it’s clear Elizabeth’s pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong calling. You can usually find her curled up with a Stephen King novel at home in the West Loop of Chicago, where she lives with her husband Cole and their two dogs, Opal and Oakley.
